Big Red Cardinal Band advances to UIL State Marching Contest

The Harlingen High School Big Red Cardinal Band is on the way to the biggest stage in Texas high-school marching.

The band has advanced to the State UIL Marching Contest after the final round of the UIL Area marching competition held Saturday, Oct. 27. Only the top five out of 26 groups, advanced to the state level.

The Big Red Cardinal Band has qualified for the state marching contest at every opportunity since 1998.

The Harlingen High School South Mighty Hawk Band, which also advanced to the final round of the Area contest, will serve as an alternate.

The state competition will be Nov. 5 in San Antonio.

The HHS UIL Marching Show is entitled “Dark Side of the Rainbow.” Band directors and drum majors are as follows:
