2018 College Showcase: HHSS Top 10 Graduates

“I plan to attend Dartmouth College, and I’m going to major in Psychology. I hope to become a psychiatrist because I want to help people. I have received the Elks Most Valuable Student scholarship, the Texas PTA scholarship, and the Chapter FY of the Philanthropic Educational Organization Impact scholarship. I’d like to thank my mom and dad for all they’ve done for me. I’d like to thank Mrs. Vaughn for all of her support as well.”

“I will be attending The University of Texas at Austin and plan to major in Biomedical Engineering. I want to pursue something in the medical field through my contributions in engineering. I am one of the recipients of a scholarship with Texas PTA. I am also a Hispanic Heritage Fund scholar. I would like to thank my parents and my brother for being role models in my life and helping guide me along the way. I also want to thank the school, faculty and staff. I’d like to thank my mentor Dr. Nolan Perez for advising me.”

“I will be attending Texas A&M College Station. I am going to major in computer engineering. I’ve receive grants and academic scholarships. I want to eventually work for a company like Apple. I want to be a developer and I want to be on the iPhone project. I want to thank my college counselors as well as my parents for supporting me and my grandparents for always being there for me.”

“I will be attending Texas A&M University and will major in biology. I’m taking a dual enrollment biology class at South and my teacher was a really big influence. I already had an idea that I wanted to pursue that field, but my teacher made me love it. I want to become an orthodontist. I received a few academic scholarships from the university.”

“I will be attending Texas State University in San Marcos. I’m going to major in music education. I want to become an orchestra director in the future. I like teaching. I am a recipient of the National Hispanic scholarship at Texas State. I would like to thank my family and my orchestra director Ms. Gheith who helped push me in music.”

“I am planning to attend Texas A&M College Station. I want to be a biology major. My mom is in the medical field so I think I’ve always know that that is what I want to do because of her. I got the school scholarship from A&M. I want to be a pediatrician. I would like to thank my parents, Mr. Leal at South, Ms. Guerra at Treasure Hills, and Ms. Lunsford at Coakley.”

“I will be attending the University of North Texas in Denton. I might major in communications or design. I hope to become a concept artist for film or games. I received the Emerald Eagle scholarship at UNT. I would like to thank my parents, my sisters and my brother.”

“I will be attending St. Mary’s University and will be majoring in biology. I want to become an orthodontist. I’m the recipient of the presidential scholarship at St. Mary’s. I would like to thank my mom. She’s the one who really motivated me to be in the Top 10.”

“I will be attending Texas A&M University and going to Mays Business School. I plan to major in finance and then go into a branch called commercial banking. I got the RGVLS scholarship. I would like to thank my parents. They’ve really helped me and supported me.”

“I will be attending the University of North Texas. My major will be in music education. In middle school I really liked being in music, and when I first got to high school my percussion director really pushed it. I just really found a passion for it and as I got to work here I learned a lot about the education world and found an interest in that as well. I received the Magic Valley Electric scholarship and also the UNT excellence scholarship. I would like to thank my parents who have pushed me and also my percussion director Mr. Liendo. He was really there for me along the way and helped me out a lot on my journey to being a successful musician.”
