HCISD to receive donated trees for new academy

First Community Bank this month announced it will donate oak trees to enhance the outdoor green space at Harlingen CISD’s newest educational facility.

The planned Harlingen CISD transition academy, an educational facility dedicated to further enhancing our educational program for students with physical and intellectual disabilities, will debut next school year.

First Community Bank, on its 40th year in operation, made the donation as part of its commitment to help the Harlingen community. The oak trees will come from Harlingen-based Simmons Oak Farms, a wholesale nursery center.

Harlingen Area Educational Foundation board member Anita Boswell lead the initiative to acquire the trees for the planned transition academy.
