HCISD recognized 163 elementary students as All-Star Readers at the June Board Meeting. These students were presented with certificates of honor for reading more than one million words each throughout the 2016-2017 school year .
A word count was generated through Accelerated Reader (AR), a computer-based reading program that allows students to take a quiz after reading a book. This process allowed schools to track the total number of words each student read.
