“Making the TMEA All-State Jazz Band is a tremendous achievement that is accomplished by so few in the state of Texas.  We are very proud of Jacob and very excited that he will be representing Harlingen HS, the Harlingen HS band program and the fine musicians of our HCISD Music family,” said Harlingen High School Band Director Maria Coronado.

All the musicians will rehearse for three days with nationally recognized conductors.

“Jacob will be rehearsing with the jazz “elite” of Texas in San Antonio February 12-15 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center,” Coronado said. “His concert is scheduled for Saturday, February 15 at 2 p.m.”

The students auditioned for All-State within their TMEA regions before advancing.

“The highest-ranking musicians judged at the TMEA Area competitions qualify to perform in one of 15 Texas All-State Bands, Orchestras, and Choirs,” according to information provided by TMEA.
