Bertha Perea has been named Director of Early Childhood Academy.
Perea has 16 years of experience in education. She began her career with HCISD in 2005. Most recently, she served as assistant principal at Lamar Elementary Dual Language Academy for three years.
Throughout her time at HCISD, Perea also served as a Pre-K bilingual teacher for four years, an instructional coach for a year, and as a district specialist for the multi-language department for three years.
Perea holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Texas State University, a Bilingual Generalist alternative teacher certification, a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas at El Paso, and a Region One principal certification.
