Superintendent Dr. Art Cavazos’ end of year message:

As we bring the 2014-2015 school year to a close, we see our students preparing to embark on a new chapter of their academic lives. Our 2015 graduates will soon experience a whole new world, brimming with possibilities, as they depart HCISD to pursue their dreams of higher education and their career aspirations. For our continuing students, the end of the year marks their progress to the next grade level. At any stage in which our students find themselves, please know that your persistence and efforts in their success have contributed significantly to who they are and who they will become.

We’ve seen much achievement this year. Our students, faculty, and staff continue to garner attention at the state and national level. This in itself is indicative of the high expectations we have set for ourselves as a district and the top-notch quality of our students and educators. Let me commend you for sharing in our mission, as it is by working together that we will continue to provide educational excellence for all students.

Echoing the accomplishments of our premier district, I am confident that we can intensify this momentum as we continue educating our students in need of academic assistance during summer school and as we begin the second year of our Summer Reading Program. This includes several literacy activities beginning with our Books 2 Go program this summer. I am heartened by the amount of support we have received in our Call to Action for literacy and ask that you please continue to encourage your students to participate in these activities and promote literacy throughout the summer break.

On behalf of HCISD, I thank you for your dedication this year in helping us create world-class schools. The motivation you transmit to our students is without equal. I am excited to see what the next school year will bring for our students and district.

I wish you and your families a safe summer break. Take this time to enjoy each other’s company and celebrate the time you have together. Time goes fast, so please take each day as an opportunity to create memories that will last a lifetime.
