TEA Announces 2025 Accountability Ratings

Harlingen CISD is celebrating two consecutive years of academic growth following the release of the Texas Education Agency’s 2025 accountability ratings. The district received TEA’s Postsecondary Readiness distinction, one of only 83 school districts in Texas to earn this honor. Campuses across the district earned top marks and distinctions, showcasing the dedication of students, staff, and the community.

In 2024, HCISD experienced strong growth, and that success continued in 2025 with eight campuses earning an “A” rating. These campuses include Harlingen High School South, Vela Middle School, Harlingen School of Health Professions, Harlingen Collegiate High, Means Elementary, Dishman Elementary, Milam Elementary, and Bowie Elementary.

The district also earned 99 Distinction Designations this year, marking a 13% increase from 2024. A total of seven campuses which included Bowie Elementary, Harlingen High School South, Harlingen School of Health Professions, Means Elementary, Memorial Middle School, Vela Middle School, and Vernon Middle School received all eligible distinctions. Overall, the district score increased from 82 to 86, and 20 campuses maintained or improved their performance from the previous year.

These back-to-back years of progress show that HCISD is a district where passion and purpose drive success. Harlingen CISD is proud of these accomplishments and remains committed to providing exceptional learning opportunities that prepare every student for success.
