Harlingen CISD is proud to announce that Ida Ambriz has been named Assistant Superintendent for Business Services.
Her career in school finance began in 2006 with HCISD’s Accounting Department, where she started as a Staff Accountant before advancing to Finance Coordinator and then Director of Accounting. In January 2025, she was named Interim Assistant Superintendent for Business Services. Prior to joining HCISD, Ambriz worked in public accounting with the firms Rolando Garcia, CPA/Attorney, and Long Chilton LLP. She brings 30 years of experience in accounting, auditing, and school finance.
Ambriz holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas Pan American and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. She is also a Registered Texas School Business Administrator (RTSBA) through the Texas Association of School Business Officials.
A proud graduate of Harlingen CISD, Ambriz attended Travis Elementary, Gay Junior High, Vernon Middle School, and Harlingen High School. Her husband, Efrain Ambriz, is also an HCISD alumnus and currently serves as a teacher and Head Track and Cross-Country Coach at Harlingen High School. Together, they have four children—Aaron, Annie, Ari, and Avery—two of whom have graduated from Harlingen High School and Harlingen Collegiate High School.
Beyond her professional work, Ambriz is an active member of the community. She and her family are active members of St. Anthony’s Church, and she has held various leadership roles in local PTAs. She also previously served as Treasurer of the Family Crisis Center.
