Cynthia Castillo Named Vice President of the Texas Statewide Network of Assessment Professionals

Cynthia Castillo, HCISD Coordinator for Assessment and Accountability, has been named Vice President of the Texas Statewide Network of Assessment Professionals (TSNAP), a statewide organization dedicated to supporting assessment professionals across Texas.

For over 25 years, TSNAP has served as a vital network for nearly 1,500 members across all 20 Texas education regions. The organization’s mission is simple: To Grow, Learn, and Support. Through professional development opportunities, conferences, and collaborative initiatives, TSNAP helps school districts navigate the ever-changing landscape of student assessment.

Cynthia Castillo has been an active TSNAP member since 2016 and was named Region One Director in 2021. In this role, she has worked to build relationships and provide support to Region One members, presented at TSNAP’s biannual events, and chaired the Best Practices Forum in January 2023 — work for which she received the TSNAP Recognition Award. Castillo has also played a key role in the New District Test Coordinator Academy, served on the Audit Committee, contributed to TSNAP’s recent website redesign, and currently chairs the TSNAP Connect Committee, which hosts monthly virtual discussions to connect members statewide.

“I am honored to be given the opportunity to lead this group of leaders,” said Castillo. “This is a tremendous opportunity to grow professionally. With HB8, assessment has some big changes coming in the next few years, and I am ready to do the work and rise to the challenge with this team.”

This new position is a three-year commitment. Castillo will serve as Vice President in 2026, President in 2027, and Past President in 2028. In these roles, she will help guide the TSNAP board of directors, lead four annual board meetings, and shape the organization’s vision and initiatives. Additionally, she will help plan two statewide conferences, the TSNAP annual meeting and luncheon at the Texas Assessment Conference, and member engagement sessions with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and Cambium Assessment.
