HHS Speech, Drama and Debate earns 21 trophies at tournament

Talent shined as the Harlingen High School Speech, Drama and Debate team earned 21 trophies at the 20th annual Harlingen High School South Texas Forensic Association Invitational on Nov. 17.

Assisting the team in an outstanding performance was Illiana Silva who took first place in Dramatic Interpretation and second place in Duet Acting with partner Joseph Echavarria.  Echavarria also placed fifth in Duo Acting with partner Jordan Villareal, 11. Also, Villareal took sixth place in Duet Acting with partner Emily Ornelas. In Dramatic Interpretation, Ornelas earned fourth place.

Amethyst Marroquin earned second place in Domestic Extemporaneous, fifth place in Impromptu Speaking, and got to the Semi Finals in the Lincoln Douglas Debate.

Chandler Stanteen, 12, placed third in Student Congress Debate, and fourth in Impromptu Speaking. Clara Duffy, 12, earned second place in Student Congress Debate and seventh place in Original Oratory. Corey Ray ,12, earned eighth place in Impromtu Speaking.

Nikki Fleuriet, 12, took seventh place in Student Congress Debate, and Carrie Boswell, 11, took ninth.  Cynthia Cortez earned third place and Ally Hopson earned sixth in Dramatic Interpretation.
