Early College High School hosts evening to showcase student work

The students at Early College High School took a night to give the community a look into their classrooms on Dec. 4.

ECHS hosted their first Project Based Learning (PBL) Night at Texas State Technical College, the school’s higher education partner. The event gave students the opportunity to showcase their PBL class projects. The projects were based on real life scenarios, and emphasized learning through hands-on experience.

To prepare for the evening, students assembled project related booths, videos, models and booklets for anyone who walked by to see. Students eagerly took time to provide further detail of how they approached the project. If at any time the audience had a question, presenters answered without missing a beat.

All grade levels and subjects ranging from science to english were represented at the educational exhibition. Students were selected to participate by their teachers.

Not to let the students’ hard work go unnoticed, the community came out in full force to show their support. Parents, students and teachers eagerly arrived before the official start of the event to ensure they had the chance to see everything.

With all of the positive responses the event has received, the campus intends on making the community night an annual event, and is considering the possibility of holding an additional one in the spring.

  1. Thank you to everyone who came out and visited our 1st Annual Parent and Community PBL Night. I am so proud of the students who participated in this event and the teachers who supported the initiative to demonstrate to parents and our community the excellent learning that is taking place at ECHS/TSTC. What a success it was!!!
