Board approves cost of living increase for 2014-2015 school year

The Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees approved a cost of living increase for the 2014-2015 school year during a special board meeting Wednesday night.

“This increase reflects our very fortunate position as a district to be able to continuously provide a cost of living increase to our employees,” said superintendent Dr. Arturo Cavazos. “I’d like to thank our board for remaining fiscally responsible while also promoting the best interests of our students and staff.”

Teachers received an increase of $1,200, while administration and other professionals were given an increase of 2 percent. An increase of 3 percent was also approved for hourly staff.

  1. Thank you, HCISD board members! As teachers we spend a lot of our own money on our classroom & students. This certainly makes it easier to budget for both our families and our job. Thanks again!

  2. Thank you Harlingen School Board and district staff. You’re the best!
