Texas State Technical College (TSTC) Chancellor Mike Resser announced that effective immediately Dr. Cesar Maldonado, President of TSTC Harlingen and Vice President of the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees, is assuming the additional duties of Vice Chancellor of Research and Commercialization for the TSTC System.
The Office of Institutional Research and Commercialization (OIRC) has been created to enhance the operational performance of the TSTC System and to form strategic alliances for the development of innovative instructional models and delivery packages.
College operations are governed by a wide variety of regulatory and accreditation agencies. TSTC places a high priority on compliance through operational excellence in the delivery of quality education across its many technical and academic programs. In accomplishing this mission, the OIRC will oversee the development of relevant performance metrics and the establishment of best practices to share within the TSTC System and with other higher education institutions.
The tools and technologies developed in-house and in partnership with external organizations often result in innovative solutions that can add value in other contexts. To this end, the OIRC will also partner with universities, state agencies, and the private sector in the incubation of start-up ventures to commercialize technologies to further higher education in Texas as well as strengthen economic development.
