The Texas Showcase Combines (TXSC) has selected Harlingen’s J. Lewis Boggus Stadium as the venue for their Rio Grande Valley showcase on March 24.

Sixth through 12th grade students from across the RGV will have the opportunity to showcase their football talents to a group of professional third party combine testers. Athletes will run through a series of drills given by an independent third party and have their performance recorded, if the student permits, for universities to view.

“As we work towards increasing college opportunities for our students in Harlingen and the Rio Grande Valley, we are grateful that TXSC has selected the city of Harlingen for their showcase,” said Superintendent Dr. Steve Flores. “Their selection confirms that the RGV is full of talent and talented individuals ready to excel in a collegiate atmosphere.”

The College Promoters of Texas (CPT) will be available to answer questions on the recruitment process. Additional TXSC showcases will be hosted at the San Antonio Wheatley Heights Sports Complex and the Central Texas Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex.

Anthony Williams, Founder and Director of Scouting for TXSC, SW Regional Director of Scouting for the Army All American bowl game and former college linebacker at San Francisco State, will serve as the head of the combine during the RGV showcase. Williams has been heavily involved in the scouting of Texas high school athletes for a number of years and is the father of Buffalo Bills cornerback Aaron Williams.

“We are excited to be hosting our showcase in the RGV, because we know there is a lot of talent in this area,” said Williams. “We are bringing a quality combine experience to students who want to put themselves in line with a chance to receive college exposure and maximize the potential to use football as a method to offset or fully pay for a college education.”

High performing participants will be awarded in the youth and high school divisions. The overall top high school players in Texas will be invited to participate in the first Aaron Williams Lone Star Showcase on June 30. During the free invite only showcase, athletes will work with Texas based National Football League players like Vince Young, Ricky Williams, Michael Huff and Roy Williams.

For high school students, the showcase will last from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The middle school showcase will begin immediately after.

  1. Do the students who pay and want to participate in the drills need a certain uniform?
    OR will that be provided?
    THanks.
