Student Advisory Board meets for advancement

The Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District Student Advisory Board (SAB) met for student advancement on Oct. 30.

The SAB, comprised of 15 students from across HCISD, represents the leadership in various campus organizations.

The SAB will meet once a month to discuss issues relevant to their mission of providing an avenue for voicing concerns to the superintendent from the student’s perspective. The SAB works to impact areas that impact student performance, safety and security, and dropout prevention.

Superintendent Dr. Steve Flores greeted each member as they introduced themselves, and provided some words of encouragement about the expectations for year.

Students provided input on their first area for the year, which was the end of course exams. Throughout the year, students will develop community service projects and proposals for development.

SAB will continue to meet once a month until the end of the year.
