South students receive national recognition in French language contest

Four Harlingen High School South French students received silver medals and a national certificate for getting seventh & eighth place in the National French Contest (Le Grand Concours).

Using their listening and reading comprehension skills in French, sophomore Isabelle Harris and senior Chance Chapman took seventh place and eighth place respectively. Placing in the top 20 were Junior Alyssa Rodriguez and sophomore Jakeb Denison.

Based on the results the team also placed first, second and sixth in the Rio Grande Valley/South Texas Chapter.

Sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French, the contest sees students of French in grades 1-12, in all 50 states and abroad.
