In the spirit of charity, the Knights of Columbus Council 2785 has donated $1,000 to the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District’s Special Olympics fund.
“As Knights of Columbus, our mission is to give back to our community,” said Willie Leal, Faithful Navigator. “While the state provides funds to support special needs programs, a lot of times they fall short. We hope that this donation helps with those needs.”
The group regularly supports the United States Veterans, local parishes, and Coats for Kids among other international and local charities.
Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic family fraternal service organization with nearly 1.9 million members worldwide. It is also one of the most active charitable organizations in the United States.
With this donation, the Harlingen-based council joins the ranks of Heroes for Harlingen CISD, which aims to engage the community in district’s schools. Click here to learn more about the Heroes for Harlingen CISD program.
