The Harlingen High School South Jazz Band soared above the competition at the McAllen Jazz Festival on April 13.
Both Jazz bands placed second in the festival. HHSS team saxophone players, Armand Cavazos and Chris Monasmith, alto saxophone players, Teddy Mendez, tenor saxophone, and Derick De La Rosa, baritone saxophone, were named the Best Section out of a total of 60 schools competing in the entire festival. Armand Cavazos, and Ryan Mowers were also named to the All-Star Band.
