HHS trainer selected to enter Rio Grande Valley Sports Hall of Fame

MAR_5038Keeping student-athletes healthy has always been a priority of Harlingen High School trainer Raul Zamarripa, and now, he will be recognized for his almost 30 years of upholding that tradition.

Zamarripa was selected to enter the Rio Grande Valley Sports Hall of Fame (RGVSHOF). He will join eight individuals that will be inducted for the year 2013. To signify his entrance, he will attend the induction banquet on June 29.

He was voted to enter the RGVSHOF by past inductees. Since its start in 1985, the RGVSHOF has inducted 203 individuals.

Zamarripa has been the trainer at HHS for 28 years and has served as president of the Valley Trainer Association. His past duties also include work as the regional director for Region 9 of the Texas State Athletic Trainer Association.

The RGVSHOF was established to recognize and preserve sports history in the RGV. It is a not-for-profit organization honoring local athletes, coaches and administrators who have brought honor and recognition to the Rio Grande Valley through their participation in sport, coaching, refereeing and media.
