HCISD partners with Valley Morning Star for weekly news page

Valley Morning Star readers will be treated to more stories about Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District students, staff and schools.
HCISD is proud to announce its new partnership with the Valley Morning Star, which will include an HCISD page in the publication every Monday.
“Our partnership with the Valley Morning Star provides us the opportunity to highlight our students and staff in the manner they deserve,” Superintendent Dr. Steve Flores said. “This endeavor will bring nothing but great things to HCISD. We thank Valley Morning Star for being a valued partner as we work together to build a better community.”
HCISD’s communications department will continue to produce stories for the web to be featured on the district’s digital properties including www.hcisd.org, photos.hcisd.org, youtube.com/hcisdtv, the weekly email newsletter, The Compass, and KHGN TV-17, Flores said.
”The Valley Morning Star is sharpening its focus on the core communities it serves,” said Daniel Cavazos, the publisher at both the Valley Morning Star and the Brownsville Herald newspapers, both owned by AIM Media Texas. “A weekly look at the activities of the Harlingen school district that features its students and teachers is a key element in our plans to feature our communities.”
The HCISD page will routinely feature a primary story, photos of the week, a district events schedule, the weekly lunch menu for elementary and middle school campuses and a person of the week, which will showcase a student or staff member.
“With all of the things we are doing, it is important for our community to remain informed,” said Dr. Arturo Cavazos, deputy superintendent for transformation and school support. “This will promote district involvement in the Harlingen community, and keep our students as a focal point throughout the year.”
