The Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District earned the top honors in seven categories of the Reader’s Choice Awards earning the best school awards for Best Elementary School, Best Middle School, and Best High School.
Bowie Elementary, Coakley Middle School, and Harlingen High School all received awards based on votes by readers of the Valley Morning Star.
HCISD also received individual awards presented to Susan Salinas for Best Principal (Bowie Elementary), Nora Ortega for Best Paraprofessional (Bowie Elementary), Norma Gonzalez for Best Teacher (Coakley Middle School) and Christina Luna for Best Counselor (Stuart Place Elementary).
