With the growing success of its high schools and mission to keep safety at the forefront at all times, the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District has approved changes to Commencement Ceremonies for the Class of 2014.

The Harlingen High School South Commencement Ceremony will now begin at 9:00 a.m. and the Harlingen High School ceremony will start 6:30 p.m. on May 31, 2014. Both ceremonies will be hosted at J. Lewis Boggus Stadium.

Also celebrated that day will be Early College High School Students. Their ceremony will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the district’s Performing Arts Center, 3217 W. Wilson Rd, on May 31, 2014.

“We strive to ensure the safety of our students and their families on this special occasion,” said Superintendent Dr. Arturo Cavazos. “This is done by working with our community and looking at all factors involved in the planning and implementation of our annual ceremonies. The decision to adjust our commencement times was made after much deliberation, but ultimately will provide the safest option for all in attendance. As we will now celebrate our three comprehensive high schools on the same day, it will be a time for our entire HCISD family to show their support for our students and their futures.”
