Harlingen South Student Council receives nationwide recognition from NASC

Student Council

The National Association of Student Councils recently recognized the Harlingen High School South Student Council with the 2016 National Gold Council of Excellence Award.

The students were awarded for demonstrating the highest levels of leadership with their active year-round programs, and providing activities that improve their school and community.

“Reaching the 2016 NASC National Gold Council of Excellence Award was no small task,” said HHSS Principal Fernando Reyes. “Our students’ success in earning the award is a testament to the leadership and support provided by adviser Claudia Rogers, and to the value placed on the student council as an integral part of Harlingen South and its educational mission.”

During the past year, the student council has set a new standard of leadership by hosting and supporting activities such as Spirit Week and Operation Santa.

This weekend they will be hosting the 2nd Annual 5K Color Run on April 23, 2016, to promote autism awareness. Click here for more information.
