Dr. Belinda Reininger sworn in as HCISD Board of Trustee

On May 14, Dr. Belinda Reininger was officially sworn in as a member of the Harlingen CISD Board of Trustees during a special meeting.

Surrounded by family, friends, school district staff, and community members, she was sworn in by Judge David Sanchez. Dr. Reininger was appointed following an election to fill the vacancy left by former board member George McShan.

Dr. Belinda Reininger is a Professor of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Texas- Houston School Health Regional Campus at Brownsville and the Interim Chair for The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine Department of Population Health and Biostatistics.

Over the years, she has served as a leader in multiple organizations that are improving education and health in the Rio Grande Valley. She has served on the advisory board for the Harlingen School of Health Professions since the school opened.

Dr. Reininger and her husband Kenneth, a graduate of Harlingen High School, moved to Harlingen in 2001 to raise their three children.

Also, sworn in during the special meeting were Dr. Nolan Perez and Dr. Bobby Muniz, who were re-elected for another term.

The board appointed Greg Powers as board president, Dr. Nolan Perez as vice president and Eladio Jaimez to the position of secretary for the 2018- 2019 school year.
