Showing their love of reading, students at Bowie Elementary School voted for their favorite Texas Bluebonnet Award books today during a special luncheon held in the school’s Information Literacy Center (ILC) on Jan 15.
To vote for their favorite book, third, fourth and fifth grade students were required to have participated in the Texas Bluebonnet Award Books program by reading a minimum of five of the twenty books.
The program, which is celebrated statewide, promotes literacy by encouraging students in the three grade levels to pick up a book and get lost in the story.
Each school that participates in the voting process will tally their results and then send them to count for statewide voting that will end on Jan. 31. The book and author that receives the most votes is announced at the Texas Library Association conference in April each year.
