Fourth graders at Bowie Elementary School are being drawn into the arts with the help of the Afterschool Centers on Education (ACE) program.
Bowie students interested in joining band during middle school are enthusiastically learning to play the recorder as part of the ACE Recorder Club.
ACE is a Texas afterschool program, which provides students with assistance in their academics along with enrichment opportunities for college and the workforce.
Students participate in activities involving science, technology, engineering and math as well as art, poetry and music. Last semester, students took art classes and wrote poetry.
The ACE Recorder Club will perform during the ACE Talent Show in May.
