Board of Trustees approves, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, Stuart Place Principal and Physical Education Coordinator

Web1087Alejandra_LaraThe Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees approved Dr. Alicia Noyola for the position of Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction PK – 16 during its regular meeting on July 9.

The board also approved Alejandra Lara for the position of Stuart Place Principal and Luis Solorio as the Physical Education/Health Wellness Coordinator.

Dr. Noyola previously served as the Principal for Vela Middle School for eight years. She has worked in education since 1990 as a teacher at Berta Cabaza Middle School, educator at Coakley Middle School, Director of Student Teaching and Field Experience at the University of Texas at Brownsville and Dean of Instruction at San Benito High School.

“As the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, I look forward to serving the Harlingen community in guiding the continuous improvement of our instructional programs in order to help our students reach their full potential as 21st century learners and global citizens,” said Dr. Noyola. “Harlingen is a community with a long history of being highly supportive of its schools and I feel fortunate in my new role as assistant superintendent to work in an environment where students are our highest priority.”

Dr. Noyola received her bachelors degree from the University of Texas Pan American, masters from UTB and doctorates from the University of Houston.

Lara comes to HCISD after serving as the Principal of Cochran Elementary and Zaragoza Elementary and Assistant Principal of Kahn Elementary and Stevens Park Elementary at Dallas Independent School District. Lara comes to HCISD with 18 years of experience in education, including five years at Dallas ISD as a bilingual teacher.

Lara earned her bachelors and masters from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Solorio has served as the Assistant Principal at Harlingen High School since 2011. Bringing 16 years of experience in education, including as teacher at Santa Rosa High School, Teacher/ Coach at San Benito High School, Administrative Director at IDEA Public Schools and as an Assistant Principal at Stuart Place Elementary at HCISD.

He received his bachelors from Texas A&M University and his masters from the University of Texas at Brownsville.
